The principle of 808 Laser Hair Removal is based on the theory of selective photothermolysis. The laser precisely targets and destroys the hair follicles without causing damage to the surrounding tissues. Different body parts require different wavelengths and energy levels for hair removal. The treatment precisely targets melanin for selective hair removal.
After melanin absorbs the laser energy, the temperature rises sharply, leading to the destruction of the surrounding follicular tissue and the removal of hair.

How does the selective photothermolysis principle work?
The laser emits light energy that is selectively absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle. This absorption raises the temperature rapidly, destroying the surrounding follicular growth tissue without damaging the surrounding skin.
Why is treatment only effective during the growth phase?
Hair grows in three cycles: Anagen, Telogen, and Catagen. Only hair in the Anagen (growth) phase contains high concentrations of melanin required to absorb enough laser energy to destroy the follicle root.
